Distressed Assets London Conference Report
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||
Dominic Farrell set the day in context by talking about where the UK economy is at the moment and looking forward to the year ahead from an investor’s point of view. Brice Robinson then took over and compared property to other asset classes in 2010 which was especially relevant given the recent volatility in the gilts and bond markets.
Henry Powell-Jones then spoke in detail about how to find distressed property, what to look for and how to deal with administrators, banks and receivers before Angela Hesketh from David Roberts and Co. solicitors took over to cover the legal considerations of purchasing distressed property.
Post lunch Mark Rubinson from city accountancy firm ABG spoke in detail on how to save tax on your property investments which proved very popular, particularly as he used real examples to illustrate his points. After Mark had finished Philip Johal, from Maida Vale Estate Agency Concept Spaces covered the London market in detail before Brice came back on to talk about finance and Dominic wrapped things up.
The day proved even more successful than we had hoped and we have received much positive feedback, a selection of which is printed below. The Distressed Assets Liverpool Conference will take place on the 5th June 2010 please see the events page for further details.
| "The conference run by Distressed Assets on repossessed property offered an informative and insightful introduction into the world of distressed property investment. A general market overview at the start of the conference set the scene for more detailed presentations on the intricacies of investing, including the legal aspects, financing and rental prospects. The presentation on how to structure your property investments in the most tax efficient way was a particularly interesting and directly useful part of the day. The one-on-one strategy meeting was particularly useful in highlighting the types of investments currently available in the marketplace, helping to flesh out information in the presentations with concrete examples of current deals. The meeting gave me confidence that Distressed Assets was big enough to have the economies of scale required for sourcing attractive deals but small enough to serve all its clients needs and tailor investment solutions to each individual's needs." |
| Xin Song - Central London |
| "Thanks for organising such a useful Conference in London last Saturday, I found it very informative, enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable.It was great to be able to interact with all the speakers and the Distressed Assets team following the conference and I would highly recommend attending to others" |
Jack Bowker - Wirral |
| "The conference put on by DA was excellent. It was balanced, well thought out, impartial and supported by some very high quality external speakers from the legal, tax and property management sectors. I have been to a couple of similar events but found this to be the best and most useful so far. The Distressed Assets team demonstrated a good depth of knowledge and their analysis of the Distressed Assets market was top notch" |
| Stuart Quick - Battersea |
| "As a property investor I found the Distressed Assets conference to be extremely useful. The content was very relevant ranging from tax and lettings advice to raising finance and, most importantly, covered detail on the UK market in bank repossessed property. I would recommend the conference to anyone with an interest in financially distressed property" |
